No place like home!

Our last day of driving was much shorter, thank gawd. The first few hours, sheep farm after sheep farm kept me entertained. I do love the sheeps!

We had plenty of time to stop in Portland for lunch at Pine State Biscuits. Why yes, that is a BBQ biscuit with a side of pimento cheese!

Since it was hotter in Portland today than it was on any of our days in California, ice cream was also in order. Almond brittle with salted ganache, of course.

There’s loads of great street art in the Alberta Arts District – I snapped a bunch of pics on the way back to the car.

But then, back on the road for the final stretch.

There is seriously nothing like coming around this bend on I5 North where Seattle comes into view.

Pictures can’t fully do it justice, but if you’ve been here, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s the view that immediately sold me on Seattle as home the first time I rounded it. It’s the view that welcomes me back every time I leave – whether it’s for ten days, or two months, or five years, like that time we made the dreadful mistake of moving to New York.

California will always hold a special place in my heart, and I had a wonderful time road tripping there with RF. But, it’s also so great to be back at our house, on our couch, in our neighborhood, with these guys whom we missed so much. (Based on the co-snuggling, I think they might have missed us too!)
