You might’ve noticed the photo above on last week’s Friday Finds post. I picked it because I’ve been dreaming of going back to Tofino. A full day’s trip from Seattle, the 8-hour journey requires driving over two and a half hours to the ferry terminal in Tsawassen, BC, just outside of Vancouver, taking a car ferry to Nanaimo, then driving another 3 hours across Vancouver Island to Tofino. Minus a seaplane, there’s no quick and easy way to get there – and, even that is an unpredictable option given Pacific Northwest weather. Of course, the remoteness is what makes it so appealing.
Truthfully, I would make the trip just for a burrito from the TacoFino truck. But the majestic vistas, rolling clouds, pristine trails, unexpected storms, violent waves, warm sun, quiet solitude, drizzly moments, welcoming locals, and small town charm are equal draws. Here are a few photos from our trip. Would you make the trek?
